Another drawing with Prismacolor pencils. Onions - with some looking a bit like apples. 🤔 I used up nearly all my yellow ochre and mineral orange!

Thank you. It ended up taking me 2 days, mainly because I used the wrong type of paper. It was very textured so building up the layers was almost a Sisyphean task! Next time I’ll use a Bristol paper......

I like your boat 👍🏻 It must be beautiful in your part of the world at this time of year. I hope the Channel Islands aren’t being too badly affected by the pandemic and lockdown?

I completely understand the paper factor. I have recently start drawing using A5 sketchbooks, where before I was using any kind of paper, usually cheap available one. Thank you for explaining this.

Jersey wasn't affected so bad by the pandemic/virus; but we are relying on tourism this time of the year and the lockdown hit Jersey very bad so far. Will see...meanwhile I will carry on sketching on free time.

Suzy you're drawing amazing portraits! On the girl with glasses you are using light and shade perfect!

Thanks so much. I'm liking the mixed media approach of pencils, pens, inkwash the whole lot together at the moment The lady with the glasses is a midwife so she was of my free portraits for nhs keyworkers. Its only A5 but she seemed to like it.
If you wanted to try toned paper for your pencils, the little girl was done in polychromos pencils on Hahnemühle cappuccino book paper (daughter of a Doctor), and the last one on grey paper from their grey book. Really lovely smooth paper lovely for pens too.

Here in Jersey there's not many stationery shops, hard to find different sketch books. I will do more research about, online shops will be my options. Amazon, CultPens...I will see. I'm also using ballpoint pens as well for sketching.

I like them but they take so long an my patience is so short I usually only use them when my daughter is around because if she runs off with the pen it doesn't matter!

Sometimes I like to use unexpected colours in my drawings. It somehow helps me to focus on form and tone. But I need more practice.

Art is about what you can see from your perspective!
