There are quite a lot pictures of nude women with cars, bikes or riding brooms, but so far I know no picture riding a fountain pen.
Being a fountain pen geek I had to change this.

Ptero - That gives a whole new meaning to posting a pen.

I thought it´s time for another portrait.
I painted this portrait as monchrome piece using only one fountain pen ink.

I was not sure if I could get enough contrast out of a light bright pink ink, so it was kind of an experiment.
Normally I would have choosen a darker ink as you have a broader range of possible values.

But I think I got away with it,
    What do you think?

I think that it works quite well with this ink. Well done. I also made the experience that not every ink is appropriate for this kind of technique. I was specially suprised how well it works with Pelikan Royal Blue. That's why i decided to draw the whole inktober 2021 with this ink:

other inks, for example J. Herbin Gris Nuage doesn't work as well

Pterodactylus and Christof, I enjoy both your styles. I haven't been very active on this FPG, but I do check this subforum regularly.

I'm drawing every day, as often with ink as with pencil. I tried picking up the charcoals again the other day, but it was not a success. I'm not even sure that it was an honorable failure.

I've been trying watercolors for a few weeks now, following a beginner's book Modern Watercolor, by Kristin van Leuven. Just trying to learn to control the brushes, which is very hard for me, whether it's my one sable brush, a few made with less costly hairs (tanuki and goat) or the synthetics. It's also hard to control the color values. The results are cartoonish for now, but I'm enjoying it and doing what I can. I also have some watercolor pencils, a cheap brand (Sargent) which I may have had for years; I don't know where I bought them. I intend to get some Faber Castells too, but the picture on the left here is an early attempt to sketch with the cheapies. The painting on the right was with Kuretake pan watercolors. Not supposed to be a connected picture, just several different items on one page.

And thanks for your detailed update and photo.

I would not give up on charcoal yet.
What kind of problems did you faced?
Do you use charcoal pencils or sticks.
How big was your paper, imho charcoal is kind of rough and therefor need some space, itˋs easier with bigger formats.
Imho important is to layer and not get too dark too soon, eraser and tortillon also help.

I think your watercolor results are already respectable.
Not everything can be controlled, sometimes all the happy little accidents (to talk with the words of Bob Ross) contribute to a cool result.
I would like to see more of your work and experiences shared.

Thanks Ptero. Oh, I haven't exactly given up on charcoal, there's just so much else to try that is more practical, particularly when I'm away from home. And my last attempt just went really badly. But I'll try again in due course.

I've tried charcoal sticks, charcoal pencils, vine charcoal, Conté crayon, and Conté pastel pencils. The main problem, as always, is control, particularly with vine charcoal.

I've tried it in my 11 x 14 and 9 x 12 inch sketchbooks, and on some loose 18 x 24 newsprint that I have. One inch is 2.54 cm. I can use the metric system, but I only think in it when measuring out coffee beans.

    Mixed Media, graphite meets watercolor.

So far the cruel aggressors, killing so many innocent people were not able to break the Ukraine as a free nation.
I hope it stays that way.
