Today I have once again the result of a joint drawing session with my son, the first drawings 2019

My son got a new sketchbook, a Clairefontaine Goldline 140 gsm, he likes it.

And I used again my new Hahnemühle Kraft sketchbook, this time all with dry media and it performs quite well.

I've inked up my Fude fountain pen with a for me new permanent ink, Platinum Carbon Black.
The Carbon black behaves really good, when washed almost no pigment is desolved, so I can recommend this waterproof fountain pen ink also for wet techniques.

I can´t imagine writing seriously with a Fude nib, but for sketching and drawing it´s quite nice and convenient.

This tank sketch is on (for me quite large) A3 Clairefontaine Paint On Gris paper.
I´m not much into sketching technical things and vehicles but I have to admit that it was fun to do it.

This time my son decided to draw the iron giant with pastels in a huge format.
    He drew it on a 50 x 70 black 160 gsm paper.

This is a 2 part mixed media piece.

The first picture shows the visible Copic marker part.

But under UV light, on the right picture the second part of the drawing become visible and shows the reason why the detector of Janine shows very high values.

The ghost is drawn with MI #23.

The invisible ink does not work on marker paper really well.
I´ve drawn a exercise ghost on a conventional piece of paper before, and this ghost really glowed and stood out with high contrast.
I did not tested it on my marker paper in advance and drawn Janine first.
When I started to draw the ghost afterwards i quickly recognized that this paper isn´t right for this ink.
First the lines glowed and stood out, but after a couple of seconds the ink was sucked into the paper and it got almost invisible (really invisible also under UV light)quickly.
I had to redraw the lines several times to get even under UV light a barely visible ghost (which did not glowed and was only visible as darker line than the paper).

So in case you want to use such an ink, avoid marker paper.
I assume this is because this paper is special coated to handle the alcohol markers well.

I wanted to draw Pepe in different style, not in the common hard black/white version so I decided to go for a colored pencil one.

It was done in my new Hahnemühle Kraft 120gsm sketchbook.
I have to say I really like it for dry techniques, it takes several layers nicely and I like the brown tone of it (but do not use it for wet media it´s not really suitable for it.).

Another Dojo sketch during the Judo Training of my son.
I thought the time is right to use a different color again.

I´ve sketched with the red before but had the impression that I can produce less tones compared to the blue sketching leads. So I did not used it often, but this time I am quite ok with the result.

Last weekend my son and I went to the local Zoo for an urban sketching session.
We sketched with pencil there (was quite cold, less than 0° C) and colored the sketches later at home with water colors.

Another Dojo Sketch this time I combined used the red to sketch and enhanced the drawing afterwards with the pencil as most of the time I feel that the red alone gives me too less contrast, 1 hour at the Dojo during the Judo training of my son.

I´m uncertain if the combination of the sketch color with the black pencil really is benefit.
    What do you think?
What is better, a monochrom sketch with one color or the combination with the black?

I really like this (in my eyes) blue-grey ink and enjoyed the sketching.
It´s a real nice looking and well behaving ink, not all the time it has to be black ink
