It helps a bit if I call these sketches rather than drawings. But what the heck, I enjoy doing this. It fact, trying to learn drawing has become a bit of an obsession.

    Keep going!

I like the expression of this sketch, very well captured!

I like trying to draw the same faces over and over. Sometimes they get better, sometimes worse. I really should be drawing more than just faces in order to learn, but I'm being self indulgent for now.

WOW, impressive Migo! The amount of details, shades and tonality of the colors are beautiful composed!

On my sketches I'm usually spending 15-20 minutes, I'm guessing on your work you might spend days!

Thank you 🙂 I enjoyed doing this one because the colours so were subtle and natural. I finished it in three or four sessions over 2 days. I’m a bit of a “detail freak”; too much at times!

I like the liveliness and style of your sketches. Their immediacy is really attractive. I try to do the same with my composition and tonal sketches, to counteract my tendency for getting bogged down in minutiae.

Thank you so much. That girl works for the nhs, she's one of my free portraits for keyworkers series. The reference photo was a bit of a challenge in back lighting

I know that I'm not up to the level of most here. But I've been finding inspiration in black and white photos with strong contrasts between light and dark.

This has led to the rather profligate expenditure of graphite. Notice the stub of a Mitsubishi Uni 10B pencil at the bottom of this picture. I have a pencil extender for it, and may be able to use just a bit more.
