Every time I test new inks the first two in the list, I do a Mr or /& Mrs. test drawing:
    Here I was playing with:

Rohrer and Klingner Königsblau /Pelikan Edelstein Star Ruby /J Herbin Café des îles and Noodler's Lexington Gray

Mr & Mrs or keep your tail out of my face

Have you tried "An American Gothic" version starring Kitty & Mousy?

@Lloyd, no. Sometimes I use actual photos/ painting as a starting point. But this time, it was just testing. I drew first the cat with a bot of cross hatching, then did a wash.
Then drew the mouse, but as I did it with a fountain pen I made a few mistakes, so I fixed it by adding the tail.
Star Ruby is a tricky ink as it has no nuance, so to speak.

Yes, one of his designs that is local to me, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra's Meyerson hall.

This is one side of a birthday card I did for a friend who has always liked elephants. Instead of the usual folding version, I painted (with watercolor pencil) on both sides of a piece of 300 pound watercolor paper. One side had a personal message, so I won't show it here, but here is the other.

A very handsome John Holland which is missing its lever. I was able to hunt down a potential (correct) substitute. Fingers-crossed hoping that I can make the replacement work.

Oh, and a sketch of a sofa/loveseat left out on the curb. Who will claim it? The mysteries of the suburbia.

First of all, I apologize for this is post because it doesn't have my sketch, but I just want to share the joy... (and I know some of you don't mind vintage pen stories).

I gambled and bought a spare barrel with intact lever bearing the same John Holland "tulip" logo.
But will the lever fit this pen? I'm betting that the hole on the lever would line up with the ones on the barrel, and luckily this time I was right.

So now the handsome John Holland is whole again. At least cosmetically because I am not going to use the lever (the original popped off for a reason, and I'm not going to repeat that).
