    My meatball sandwich.
Iroshizuku Tsukushi (brush pen), diluted Noodler's Apache Sunset (watercolor brush), Private Reserve Grey Flannel (Pilot Metropolitan medium) and a touch of Noodler's Rattler Red Eel (Lamy Vista fine), water wash.
And THAT is one DELICIOUS looking sketch!

Thank you. I'm not real happy with the bun but the meatballs are surprisingly close to the real color.

    Hi Moominyak,

    Welcome aboard
I'm glad you joined, unfortunately I can't agree with your statement about bad artwork as its well done.
And of course can we see what it is.
In German we call it "Nudelholz" I´m not sure if rolling pin is the correct English term.

Sometimes not only used in the kitchen but also from resolute women to enforce their arguments (but not experienced it personally yet from my wife )

Thanks Ptero, that's why I keep mine handy, can't remember the last time it saw any pastry!

And yes that's the correct term in English

    #2 - A Green Vegetable.
Though, technically, they are fruits, I decided on a green bell pepper and a pair of jalapenos.

Weekly Sketch #2 by Charlie Wrenn, on Flickr

    HB pencil for layout,
Noodler's Gruene Cactus Eel - Sketched outlines and crosshatched shadow with Lamy Vista fine, then water wash overall.
Private Reserve Avocado, Iroshizuku Shin-Ryoku - diluted washes with a #4 watercolor brush
Iroshizuku Tsukushi - Set in some dark areas with a Noodler's Konrad brush pen

As usual for the small sketches, I used Strathmore premium recycled Sketch paper

    Well done Snowbear

    Theme #2: "A green vegetable"

I have to admit that I´m neither a friend of still lives nor vegetables, so I had to do it a bit different.

    By your leave, Mr. Broccoli

Thank you, Ptero. No worries - MLW isn't fond of broc, either.

snowbear ~ nicely done. Did you raid your fridge for those? I'd rather forgotten about green peppers since I avoid them like the plague.

Ptero ~ Not being a friend of stilllifes goes a long way to explain your 'sketching' style

Good choice on the broccoli. It's one of my favourite vegetables and all members of my family like it a lot. That includes the dog, who eats as much of it as people are willing to give her. We probably eat it three times a week...hmmmm

    References are good

...after all, I don't have too many giraffes lounging around for me to sketch. Darn things are as skittish as squirrels

I know what you mean; polar bears aren't exactly common in Maryland (though we have two or three in the zoo at Baltimore).

Green Onion ~ Platinum Carbon black (with a platinum desk pen) and Sailor Tokiwa-Matsu & DeAtramentis Whiskey with a brush on random watercolour paper (I don't know what brand....I have a pile of offcuts, and discarded work that I'm utilizing the backside of, from when I was cleaning my cupboard this Spring)

Oh no! I just did my own quick attempt at some spring onions... I should have checked the thread first In my defence, these are the weedy things we get in UK supermarkets... (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)

    Your onion is spectacular Pira

Great minds think alike, right? Your's are perfect! They look exactly like the ones my husband is always eating...and that's a great choice of colours for the sketch!
