I am now imagining a world where fans zip around like menacing airborne shredders....you could lose your head quickly in such a place!

It does not matter how skilled you are, what matters is that you have fun doing it.

I'm not sure what the next few days will be like so I'll post #4 now.

Konrad brush pen, Speedball B-6 and the old #4 round sable.
Mainly Cross Black & Apache Sunrise washes, Lexington Gray and Shin-ryoku for the ink samples and an unknown black with some residual (accidental) Blue Pearl for the heavy black areas in the lamp. Shin-ryoku and Rouge Hematite 1670 on the paper.
Paper is Canson 89# (160 g) Mix Media paper.

This is a dual-purpose sketch I'm using here and the other site (I've made my peace with them).

I still owe you a fan. I'll try to get it online in a couple of days - I have something "down to earth" I want to do for it and I'm still looking for a reference photo I like.

Moominyak ~ good job with that jar. I find them (regardless of shape) difficult to draw and so it was a good exercise for both of us ....the fan is excellent and a good choice for that challenge. I like how there were so many different types of fans...(which probably goes a long way to explain why English is such a confusing language)

Snowbear ~ I LOVE your interpretation of 'fan' and that was a good idea to combine a few challenges into a single drawing. Nicely handled.

Ptero ~ awesome job as always with the ipadpro sketching

Look forward to seeing what you folks (and anyone else who wants to join in) comes up with for footwear

Thank you - loving the glassware. I'm working on finding a shoe (I'm a hillbilly at heart and try not to wear them)

In the meantime, I'm too busy because I got a package from the wonderful Rachel at Goulet Pens.
I'll include it in the next sketch.

no, but I have to admit to have a soft spot for such footwear used by women.
Unfortunately my wife do not like them......

So here is another pair (my wife probably also would refuse to wear)

*chuckles* Nicely done...and...well, your wife sounds like a sensible who prefers to keep her feet, tendons and back in working order. I agree that such shoes are beautiful and sexy...too bad they are insanely painful to wear. This is something men will never fully understand.

...having said that, I'll never comprehend how women overcome the pain for the sake of fashion. I'm not talking about aching feet. Rather, I'm talking about putting up with severe pain for a look for hours upon hours. My grandmother actually had a toe removed because it was mangled so badly in her youth, by footwear with a toe box that was too pointy and snug. I'm so glad I was raised by hippy parents rebelled against fashion and insisted on comfortable footwear.

I do get it though...the biology of why men love women in these things.

Me neither. I can't walk in heels even if I wanted to (which, thankfully, I don't)! I seem to spend most of my life in wellies and boots (yes, even during the 'great' British Summer).

This is one half of a pair of Derbies I've recently acquired - they look a bit masculine but that's probably why I like them, I'm not really one for pretty bows on shoes Wish I'd used Red Dragon rather than Oxblood, they are definitely red rather than brown. Also have to admit to cheating a bit and tracing a photo, as I was really struggling with this one - sorry!

    No apologies needed.

The reason I chose 'a shoe' as an object to draw, is because aside from most of us actually having one lying around to sketch... it's a real challenge. And you rose to the occasion in fine style

Like yourself, I prefer a more masculine shoe ~ although there is a wedge heel on that pair of black suede Clarks ...for me look is important but so is comfort.!!

I wore heels for 10 years as a legal secretary--and I am so sorry I did it. The pads on the balls of my foot got quite worn down; these days, I can't tolerate heels at all. I would advice against wearing them as you are just asking for trouble later in life. If nothing else, wearing them regularly really does damage to not only the foot but the knees and the lower back. They are okay on occasions, but not for everyday.

    Oh ouch!

I was reading this morning how Julia Roberts went up the red carpet at Cannes this year in barefeet to protest the nonsense of women being turned away on the red carpet last year if they were not sporting killer heels. Good for her! MEN should be foreced to wear them to be accepted and then this nonsense would stop.

MLW hasn't worn a high heel in many, many years and it is more than fine with me.
