I second DrPenfection on Callifolios Bonne Esperance, Botany Bay, & Gris de Payne. I would also add Bosphore.

Sorry to butt in but you can use CON-20, CON-40, or CON-50 for instance.

I have way too many Elites ... (or can there be too many?). Rarely do the vintage ones have a problem. The vintage Pilot pocket pens with gold, fingernail-type nibs that are not labelled Elite are of similar quality and fantastic writers too - the nibs are very slightly smaller than the Elite fingernail-type nibs and do not come in a wide variety.

Quite a few brands I hadn't heard of before in your guesses. Daytone and Glare are intriguing - a few of their colors look interesting.

What the heck is Sijui hii ni kahawia gani???

This is one of the Korean ones - and is a nominal EF that writes more F - it's so smooth, though, that I forgive it every time! I have a couple of Japanese 14k ones that are much scratchier, and get used a lot less.

I use the originally fitted Con-20 because I change inks so often that I don't mind the small capacity. I also use it with the random cartridges that seem to come with every Pilot pen, some of which are very nice colours.

The ink has not been named.

I thought something looked a little different ... I have a couple full length Korean Pilots with a similar dart nib.

That's disappointing about your Japanese Elites. I can assure you that scratchiness is not typical of Japanese Elites - you might look into some nib tuning on those.

I've had nothing but good experiences with the Korean Pilots - including the red-capped Juliet, which is by far the cheapest 14k nibbed pen I own.

The Japanese ones are in the cup of 'pens waiting to have their nibs looked at'. I think one just needs a bit of smoothing, but the other may well have to be experimented on and turned into something different!

@Pithy, mizgeorge, thanks for the info. This is the type of pen I like. Sleek, unobtrusive and elegant...

There is no shimmer. There is a little sheen on the right paper, and reasonable shading. It has surprisingly good water resistance.

It's that older Swahili brand. I know all of you have heard of it before, but I've never seen it.

    Good one, Yazeh.

mizgeorge did say that it was a "new to her" ink so likely it will be fairly new

It is a great guess - and I have got it - I just haven't had time to play with it yet!

As complete aside, I believe the Swahili word for ink is 'wino'. Curiously apt, perhaps...

Small pens? Well, most are just not for me.

The small Pelikan 140 that I purchased a number of months ago, just doesn't get much use because it is so small. I can use it to jot notes, but not for any serious writing. It is just too painful. You've all heard my woes of osteoarthritis. I recently purchased a Sailor 1911S with a zoom nib. While I love the nib, the pen is almost too small. The 1911L is much better. It's not so much the length, but the diameter needs to be wider. I had a gorgeous Parker 51 with a solid 14K cap, made just months before WWII (and there is a long story that went with the pen), but the section was just too narrow for me.

AHA! She knows some Swahili! Indeed, it is!

Sijui hii ni kahawia gani was just me having a bit of fun. Obviously there is no such ink. It generally means, I don't know what the heck brown this is. Just 'funnin' with y'all'.
