    And there it is!!

Sailor Shikiori Zaza. Apparently it's the sound of heavy or persistent rain (as opposed to the also gorgeous Shito Shito, which is more of a drizzle).

It was a bit of an impulse purchase, and I'm delighted with it.

Congratulations Yazeh - you got there in the end (and well done PP - you were so close and got the clue!)

Ah, 8 minutes only. Would you be kind enough to take my place this time?

Thanks mizgeorge that was fun! I liked the name, though I'm not so sure about the drizzle one, it's sounds a bit iffy

It would be my pleasure. It's likely good timing: I got a beautiful new (to me) pen yesterday and, today, I'm trying to figure out what to ink it with.

My new pen but, since the ink I chose is no longer available, it's inappropriate for 'guess the ink'. Stay tuned!

So do you use this for your best or very best?

The nib is unlabeled but, yes, it seems to write as a Western extra fine. The seller described it as a medium and I wasn't thrilled about the prospect of having to call forth the spirit of a dead person (hmm, there's that 'death' theme again ...), so it was a pleasant surprise when I discovered its actual size.

(Really, I don't like plain ole' medium nibs much - Japanese fine, Western extra fine, flex, and italics are my preference - but since the pen looked stunning, was a great price, is difficult to find, and I'm in 💖 with old urushi Duponts, I thought 'why not get it and, in the future, have the nib professionally ground to an italic?', so the ef nib actually was a very pleasant surprise.)

Well done, Yazeh! I am currently writing with ZaZa and would have guessed it first . . . if I hadn't been preoccupied on the other side of the country with my head stuck in about 2000 books. And now I am home again and totally exhausted. Although I was buried inside during most of the day, the long drive to and from my hotel was through the countryside still awash in autumn colors. The only negative thing about my trip this last week was getting on a plane last night, feeling poorly and enduring 9 hours of turbulent plane flights and walking into my house at 1am. Thankfully, I wasn't sick and my headache did abate on the last flight home. Now I am just jet-lagged.

BTW, I am loving ZaZa and would recommend it if you like a medium wet ink. I am currently using it in a Sailor PG with a medium-fine nib.

As the once proud breeder of amazing kitties, I understand keeping their little inquisitive noses away from your fountain pens. Sadly, or thankfully - depending on how you look at it, I have become horribly allergic to cats. Now I just have two wonderful cavalier king charles spaniels. But sometime early next year, we will be adding another lovely little cavalier to our family by the name of Epiphany - or Pip for short. And she is curious about everything.
