Keep rolling - you are SO close!

It's neither a German nor Aussie ink.

This is not an obscure ink. 👇He agrees.

BTW, I did something today that I have mixed feelings about: I intentionally purchased a rollerball, albeit a beautiful, very high quality, and difficult to find limited edition. The mixed feelings are not so much about it being a rollerball (at least it wasn't a ballpoint!) but it's about the realization that I must accept that I am now a collector and not merely only a user and enthusiast. Sigh. At least I got it for a bargain price...
And congrats on the rollerball. Is it one that you will use or just for collecting? I must admit, before I got back into fountain pens, I started collecting Retro 51's. But I had more problems with leaky refills than I have every had with my fountain pens.
    Thanks.

That's the thing - I don't plan to use it. Except for a never inked, vintage maki-e Pilot, which I consider more of an art-piece than a pen, up until now all my many fountain pens have been used, will be used, or have been/will be put up for sale. I have developed an interest in the first few models of urushi Dupont pens (and, normally, my interest is in the fountain pens only) and this rollerball - a Montparnasse Chairman Grenat - is in a beautiful, difficult to find finish that is maybe the most desirable among Dupont collectors. I am making a nice display box that will allow me to easily take out pens to use but I am sure this one will only sit there among my other urushi Duponts, looking pretty.

It's the same finish and model as the uppermost pen in this photo, except that one is a fountain pen. I also have the amber pen immediately below it but it's a fountain pen that I actually use. Both are urushi over guilloche.

To be clear, one of you was really, really close to figuring it out. The 'flying key that would unlock the mystery' was inside your reach but you didn't know it was there ...

(but, right now, I am making for darn sure that I didn't previously miss the correct guess!)

EDIT: And it definitely hasn't been guessed correctly yet. I think you are going to get it very soon. And, if not, I'll make things even more obvious.

I'll give a super-extra-obvious hint tomorrow morning (here) after I wake up, just in case it hasn't been guessed correctly yet.

    Absolutely beautiful!

But I admit that I am not a collector of anything these days (although if one were to look at my burgeoning ink supply, they might think that - way too many!).

I have gone down the collecting path way too many times spending far too much money. Every fountain pen is used. I've become more pragmatic in my "old age".

Going out on a limb here . . . Diamine Ancient Copper

Diamine Handel for the win!!! Hallelujah!!! (hallelujah ... halleeeee-luuu-jah! )

Whew! Great effort DrP! When you went through all those Diamines the first time, I thought, 'Oh no! She missed it!' and had to do a double - and triple - take.

Sorry to be a contrarian to anyone who likes this ink but I have never warmed to it. I like the component colors well enough, it's just that the shading of this one makes it look awkward on the page, at least to my eye.

(Perhaps Yazeh has some regrets about turning over this last round to me? heehee)
