It had to happen - you were circling right from the first guess

It is indeed Pelikan Königsblau - and if I'd shown you the pen I used (an old Level) it would have been a dead giveaway as it's the only ink I have in the 'proper' bottles!

I hate to tell you how many years I used only Pelikan Royal Blue. At that time, it seemed the only choices were black, blue, red or turquoise. I had to use either black or blue, so I used Pelikan Royal Blue cartridges. A walk down memory lane.. .

The following is a scan of a smear. I took a letter opener and smeared the ink on Exacompta Bloc Pad paper. After it dried, I dropped a couple drops of water on it. Hmmm . . . I didn't know that this ink was so water resistant.
