Neither of these brands either. The continent of Europe is the way to go.

    Neither Kaweco nor Akkerman.

One guess has been quite a bit warmer than the others, if that's any help. But it's probably not.

It might actually help if you said which guess.

It would indeed, but then I suspect things might be all over rather soon afterwards.

Ah no, not Faber Castell either.

It used to be an effort-to-get ink, but in the last year or maybe two, its become more accessible to English speakers.

*Looks at sample, looks at Grey Plum* Huh?! Anyway, it's not KWZ.

When wet, this ink looks darker and perhaps a bit bluer.

Didn't know that one; looks rather nice.

But this ink is not Italian.

    Nope. Definitely not.

I would think Abraxas would be generally considered fairly obscure in comparison to the brand of the mystery ink.

Hmm I´m runnning out of ideas.

Initially I thought it must be a smaller German manufacturer, as you said: an European brand, it is not Italian, not KWZ and not globally available.

Can´t be Pelikan, Rohrer&Klingner, Lamy, Parker or Waterman as globally available, and I´m not aware of any such Grey produced by them.
Also not Super5, Seitz Kreuznach, Octopus or Lindauer, because they also have not such a Grey.
Also not one of the Italians,Montblanc,Kaweco , Abraxas or KWZ.
Not De Atramentis, not Herbin, not Akkerman and also not Diamine.

Not Monteverde or Sheaffer, made in Europe but not a European brand.

Some obscure in-crowd inks are not possible because of the well known requirement.

What puzzles me is the well known combined with not easy globally available......

I think I do not know this ink Manufacturer.... maybe somebody else has still some ideas.

Having read your list, I concur - you don't apparently know the manufacturer.

There's quite a large European country between Austria and, say, Spain. Or Britain. You might look there.
