Well done mizgeorge! That was fast! Nice to be back and pop in when baby permits - and when i think I might have a shot at guessing the ink. Mama Prior and Baby Prior still thriving so I am thankful for that. 40 degrees here today...just trying to keep cool.

We've been seeing awful news reports about the heat you guys are suffering with over there. It seems quite bizarre as we're having the coldest summer I can remember for many years - it's struggled to get up to 15 or 16 degrees C here for the last few days!

What worries me is that I got the thought process behind the clue...

Back in a while with a new ink!

And with apologies for the short delay, here is another offering.

The text has nothing to do with the ink, I just fancied drawing a rose

I am looking for the exact new name of this popular ink (it would be too easy otherwise).inkguess21.jpg

With thanks to Mr Weller for the lyrics.

    Neither of these.

and thank you - my husband brought me in some roses from the garden this afternoon and they made me so happy that I wanted to draw one! I was impressed at how well this ink worked as a background wash, especially on such thin paper.

Nothing makes happier, a husband happier than the look of wonder on a wife's face.

I'm pretty sure it's one from a much older English nursery - Harkness Roses, who are based very close to where my mother lives. They have created some of my favourite blooms. Today's picks are yellow

    No, no, no, no, no

I think the pink wash in the rose is leading you in the wrong direction, the only one that's close is the Algonquin Maple, which I don't have!

My mother has a couple Rosemary Harkness bushes - just beautiful - like a multichromatic ink (kind of Sailor Studio 173) They're based about a mile from where my childhood home in the UK was, so we've been visiting the nursery there for as long as I can remember, and it's my default choice for gifts for anyone who gardens! The former poet laureate, Ted Hughes, apparently worked there for a summer in 1955.

    I digress.

None of these inks - the last is extremely close in colour though - it was a close run thing between the ink I ended up using and the Fushimi, but I thought the Kyoto might be a bit dry for the pen I was using, and I haven't had a change to experiment with how much additive it needs yet.

    I need to be gentler

Sadly, it's not Fire Engine Red.
Nor is it Red Chine (though that was also a very close contender)

The name seems to generally include the word Red (though curiously, it doesn't appear on the bottle).
