The clue looks like tweed or houndstooth. Pure Pens was my first thought as well.

Berwick upon Tweed...Berwick made pens, but not ink...

Oh hell's bells, it looks like Sailor Sei-Boku to me, but waterproofness should not come as a surprise on that....hmmm..
