Before I go on to mizgeorge's ink, here is a photo of my ink swatch made when I received the ink from my friend. It is a bit darker, but does not seem as dark as yours. The sample my friend sent was from a freshly opened bottle (his last).

And no worries Ptero! I just want to make sure that I am not doing something that upsets others. This is just a fun game, and I for one want to keep it that way. My concern is as you say, if the sample is somehow tainted. It does look different than your's and mizgeorge's , so I would agree that something happened to mine.
