I think I would probably describe the color as: old rose (that's not the name of the ink)

Oddly enough, the name of this ink does not evoke anything near an 'old rose' color.

In fact, you would think it would be a much more vibrant and passionate color, judging by the name...

    Bravo @ mizgeorge.... Sorry @Ptero...

Mizgeorge, in case you missed it, Darla is having a lot of problems with this ink. I believe you have it.... Did you experience any probs?

Thank you Darla - I should have got it sooner, given that I use it a lot!

I've had no problems with it at all (actually, I've not had any problems with any of the Laban inks) but I've only tried them in a fairly limited range of pens. It's a permanent fixture at the moment in a Sailor Fude, and my daughter has it in a very fine nibbed Pilot, and it's behaving nicely in both.

I have noticed a definite colour change as it ages in the pen - it starts out much pinker and becomes browner, but I rather like that. This is a sample from when I used it here a few months ago:

Ptero - I don't have anything prepared (I'm in the middle of swatching a bunch of new inks ) so please go ahead and give us something cool and blue!!

Well done, mizgeorge! And thank you Darla for showing us a new ink (well, new to me anyway).

Ptero, I can't wait to see what you will produce for us in this New Year!

Thanks mizgeorge. I wonder if maybe the batches come out a bit different each time? Your writing sample has a lot more red in it than what I normally get from this ink, and that was honestly more of what I was hoping for when I bought it. I did a scan for this round, but it looked a lot more red and pink than what it does in reality. And again, more what I would have actually liked. Dusty/old rose is not one of my favorites I was hoping for something a touch more vibrant pink, but still dark enough to be easily legible. A bit of a tall order, I know...

I also have quite a bit of flow issues with it. Do you happen to have any suggestions for lowering the viscosity without actually diluting it with water, mizgeorge?

Darla, go the sample way. Fountainfeder sells a lot of pinks. This way you can check a lot pinks....

That is too kind from you, thanks.

So here we go (to be honest I already prepared something in advance, just in case )

Obviously we have here an ink with quite some shading potential.

    Game On

Yes, I've ordered samples from Fountainfeder before! It was excellent for finding the super dark blue-black I wanted a while ago. It's not as easy as in the US/NA to get samples here, so they have been one of the only places I had heard of. But I actually bought this Laban ink when I ordered the Laban Skeleton (yes, that was a clue in the photo), and not being nearly as expensive as MB I figured there wouldn't be much risk and it would at least be a good fit with the pen. But the nib on the Skeleton turned out to be a sloppy wet writer. (I need to take another shot at tightening it up; my first attempt wasn't successful.) And the ink seems very wet also, but at the same time doesn't want to flow in a narrow pen. I have since seen that the place here in NL that I bought it from now also sells samples, which is good because they have the more boutique inks that the big shops don't have.
