    Nope, still not.

But before you go even further afield, Yazeh, I can tell you that the brand has been named.

I nearly bought Candy Marsala and Rood Haags Pluche the other day. The name Haags Pluche basically means the red velvet color I was looking for but it's too bright for what I wanted. The name means 'Hague velvet' and is quite possibly also a nod to the colloquial meaning of 'sitting on velvet,' as in having a cushy job - which I just realized probably comes from the same colloquialism of sitting on a velvet cushion, hmmm... but I digress. It's also too bright a red for this ink. Still thinking about getting the Candy Marsala - but mostly because I really like the name!

Anyway, still none of the above guesses, sorry.

I'll go for the most improbable one, Taccia Sharaku-Akasakura but my little finger, tells me it's PR Vampire red

I'm going to go with Vampire Red too - with the Robert Oster New York as my backup!

You can't trust your little finger, Yazeh! Always go with the most improbable one!

It is indeed Taccia Ukiyo-e Sharaku-Akasakura!

This time you're up again, Yazeh!

This is the second Taccia sample that I have received from Sakura Pens in Belgium and both have been quite unsaturated colors. They don't exactly shade, but they do seem to layer nicely. The Akasakura is a medium brick red with a bit of pink hiding in there somewhere. And I thought for sure mizgeorge would get it immediately on the second round after coming straight out the gate with Hokusai-Benitsuchi, which seems to me to be just one shade darker.

Congratulations on the swoop, Yazeh! Can't wait to see what you've got for us next!

Well done Yazeh! I was pretty sure I'd figured the shop, but picked the wrong red! I'd only included the others because they were from the only other place in Europe that I can think of that does samples

    Good swoop

I had a feeling you would have your suspicions about the shop, mizgeorge! I just bought a beautiful Taccia kimono pen roll there (much more beautiful than it looked in the photos!) and everything is always so beautifully wrapped! And Catherine has also included a paper sample and an ink sample - and Cote d'Or chocolates - with each of my orders so far. I'm not sure if they actually sell samples because I have never seen them for sale on the site. But the first sample I received did have a price tag on it, so it's possible they sell them in the shop, or maybe on request. I have also seen that Scrittura Elegante here in NL has recently started selling samples of the boutique inks they sell. Fountainfeder in Germany still has the largest selection of samples, though, as far as I know.

I didn't know that SE were selling samples now - not that it helps me now we can't even get stuff in from Europe cheaply any more It doesn't really matter though, as I don't really do samples - though some of the inks being sold now are barely more than that (yes Colorverse, I'm looking at you!).

Sakura is one of my absolute favourites - one of these days, if we can ever travel easily again, I'm going to go over just to drool over the stock there

Yes! I would love to be able to visit the shop someday soon! My fp (& ink) habit only started post pandemic, so I have to admit that I have never actually been in a brick & mortar pen shop before! I can only imagine how fascinating Sakura must be

Thank you Darla for the adventure, and well done Yazeh!

I almost ordered a sample of Sakura, but I heard that the new Taccia inks are really dry.
