So far this is the best color match according to my travel ink journal, but alas, not the correct one.
You need to head back to Europe!

Nope, not a CdA ink, but that was one of the comparison swabs on the review sheet I found on Google Images.

So the brands out of the running:
    Diamine
    De Atramentis
    Graf von Faber-Castell
    Kaweco
    Pilot Iroshizuku
    Caran d'Ache

Next hint: it is now a discontinued ink, but was readily available as part of their standard line-up when it was in production.

    And we have a winner!

I was actually surprised by how dark it wrote on the Rhodia pad. It is significantly lighter on Apica and every online swab/scan I've encountered. I didn't like it at first, but the more I use it, the more I like the tone. I think I'll do a side-by-side comparison with Iroshizuku Fuyu-Syogun eventually because of how close they seem in color, shading, and tone.

    Onto you Petro

Really good guess Coyote, in fact the name of the mystery ink has something to do with wine.
But it is not a Visconti ink.

De Atramentis only has a dozen wine inks, eleven of which are shades of red. Of course it could be anything else too

Sorry, neither a Herbin nor a Diamine ink.

    Keep the guesses coming.
Or let me know if it is too difficult, to give another hint.

Sorry, also not a Faber Castell ink.

Next Hint: The Manufacturer is quite new in the business of FP inks.
