Yes, I've read lots of complaints. From what's reported in UK the worst is Orkney Islands which has twice the speed of my remote area here in the mountains of BC. I'm guessing there is something actually wrong with gainwevil's connection or computer setup. I wish I could help.

It's the copper phone lines - no maintenance and no incentive to spend the money on laying them underground.

To be honest, chaps, can we stop talking about it? Living with it is bad enough, and I come on here for pleasure rather than more stress.

We just wanted to find a solution so that you could upload your ink sample.....
Alternatively, you can mail it to someone it and have them scan it

Would you like to post a sample or shall we ask Ole Juul do the honours

I don't think Weevil and you are communicating. Tell me if I'm wrong. You had said that Weevil was the reluctant winner, and Weevil had asked you what ink it was she was supposed to have guessed. Did that get resolved? I'm confused.

PS, I'm not so experienced at inks yet, so I'm perhaps not the best person to play this game. I do have a small collection though and could provide a sample for guessing if required.

Weevil said she knew what ink it was. But she didn't want to name it because of her internet connection.....And as no one else was interested, I declared her the reluctant winner.
As no one knows what inks you have, it's always a mystery

Doh! I didn't notice the affirmative. Probably got lost in the discussion of rural internet.

I think XYZZY should be declared the winner for grasping how guessing the ink actually works. Something Yazeh seems to struggle with...

And to sign off on the rural internet (I hope), it turns out we finally have access to FTTC. No-one thought to tell us, naturally, and after the first nine years of disappointment you stop checking, but still. a. That probably explains the recent slump in speed for our poor ADSL connection. But b. We have this very day ordered fibre connectivity and are promised a minimum of 10Mbps. TEN Mbps!! I'll believe that when I see it. Alas, not for a fortnight, but all digits crossed it'll go smoothly and I'll sacrifice a few Preppies to the gods to try and seal the deal.

I didn't either, and I spent a long time looking. I checked as carefully as my old eyes will allow, all the way back to the ink image, and I certainly couldn't find it. Anyway, I'm a really stupid person, so what else is new.

Edit to add: as far as I could tell the ink is called Keystone. No idea how the Emerald got in there.

You could sign up for the Starlink beta (https://starlink.com). They probably aren't doing Cornwall yet, but get all your neighbors to show interest, too, and maybe they'll decide that there's something in Cornwall :-)

I'm glad to hear that. So, we'll see posting your ink in two weeks

Now that's something I strongly disagree with

ladyweevil, if you want to mail your guess-the-ink sample to me then I can photograph and post it for you. But I'm guessing that your internet connection is faster than international mail. :-)

Weevil was supposed to post one. She was getting "high speed" internet. So we said we wait.

If you're not going down the road of unilaterally declaring someone the winner, then it's still Yazeh's turn, as he revealed the identity of the previous ink without anyone having guessed it.

I don't enjoy being bullied, so I'm out of here.

I'm truly sorry. That was not my intention.

I suggest whoever who wants posts a new guessing ink.
