I happened to grab a stack of cream colored copy paper (the kind that is almost a light yellow) to ‘scribble’ on with the TWSBI stub and I was actually pleasantly surprised by how the color of the Candy Marsala came out. I think the lower contrast and the color of the paper brought out its best side, especially with the wide strokes. Camouflages the murkiness. I did notice it’s definitely a dry ink, so I can see how it might feel almost gritty in a dry pen. It was just a lucky draw that I thought about testing it with that fairly wet stub. And now I’m thinking it will be quite a nice writing ink with a wide nib on ivory or cream stationery.

Haha! I’ll admit that I am not planning to buy a second bottle of it whenever (if) this one runs out. The color is actually very similar to Pennonia Mustvörös (Young Wine) and I think I would rather return to that. (There was an unfortunate spilling incident with my bottle.) Also a dry ink - aren’t most reds? - but I felt it had nicer shading and a ‘cleaner’ color.

Mustvoros is a nice color. My favorite reds in that range are the Sailor Manyo Kuzu, Ume and even Akebi. They are much wetter, have nice sheen and shading. Scribe Garnet is also really nice, but it is a bit more purple than Candy Marsala. I know you like Monteverde inks, so you may want to give Napa Burgundy a try or even Blueberry Muffin. Each one is a bit different in color, but they are all much "wetter" than Candy Marsala.
