Default Great political commercials of the season.

"Role Models" may be as great a political commercial as "daisy"!

    "The Internet Never Forgets."

And some people are just too damned stupid to realize it, or don't see that political correctness is really about being civil, courteous, and caring... instead of incendiary, insulting, and indignant.

Absolutely right. Unfortunately, the political correctness presently has been morphed or "radicalized" to be more about perceiving offensiveness than conveying civility.

What is lost, IMHO, is that civility also places requirements on the behavior of the person on the receiving end. You cannot at the same time be "civil" and eager to take offense where none was intended. Eagerness to take offense is a toxic personality trait, but it is actually encouraged now because everyone is patting themselves and their friends on the back for being offended at all the right things.

Fine, but let us extend that a little to some actual behaviours which can be observed. Is it OK to be offensive provided you are too ignorant to recognise that your behaviour gives offence? Implicitly saying "it's their fault for being offended" is blaming the victim.

There are all sorts of things which I might label "politically correct" except that I do not see the term as very useful. It usually means I (or whoever is objecting to "political correctness") is simply objecting to what appears to be a majority view not in favour of my [their] convenient opinions. We need to argue the issues, not some notional right to apply labels without considering their implications.

We have some rights and expectations but I believe that the "Right to not be offended" is not among them. In fact, often we can learn a lot from those incidents where we do get offended.
