Default A Tribute to a Friend

I hope this is OK to post here. I very rarely post personal stuff, but feel I must do so in this case. .......

Sometimes you get news that really knocks you back on your heels & puts all the other silly stuff in your life into perspective.

I heard yesterday that a friend, and colleague for many years, has died after a tragic & horrific accident whilst on a cycling holiday in the Haute-Pyrenees in France.

Jennifer was a wonderful person; one of the most caring, compassionate & intelligent women I've ever known. I worked with her for over 12 years: she was my boss, my mentor & my guide, through all kinds of career & personal challenges. She made me a better person. She made a huge difference to the lives of many thousands of children & young people, and improved educational standards wherever she worked. The world is truly a worse place without her.

She was also funny, mischievous & had a wonderful sense of humour. And boy, was she clever. I will miss her.

Her family have had more than their share of tragedies in the past and this all seems just so unfair. I feel tremendously sad for her husband & two daughters.

Tributes are pouring in and I just wanted to add mine. Here are links to news reports:

I'm so sorry to hear of this loss. She sounds like a great person from your description and from the others who discussed her contributions in the news articles. Clearly many, many people will feel her loss keenly. My condolences to you.

Oh my, I am so sorry. When it is so unexpected, so sudden, it just seems to compound the sorrow. I'll hold you, and her family, in the Light.

    So sorry for your loss.

Hold fast to your memories of her, and I hope there is some comfort that the accident occurred while she was doing something she clearly enjoyed.

My thoughts are with you and her family and friends.

I was so sorry to see this today. I offer whatever condolences I can knowing that words really don't help much, but they help a little and these are offered with a true heart.

Thanks, everyone, for your very kind & supportive messages, here and via PMs.

Jennifer was one of those people who make a real and positive difference to people's lives and who stay in your heart and mind. She was completely honest, caring & so modest. Fun, too :-) I have lots of wonderful memories of her and I'll always treasure those.
