I want to start sketching
Hello everybody
Recently I developed interest in sketching.
I own different fountain pens but the one that would suit me best (for sketching) is a EF pelikan 400 (vintage pen) in 14k. Has very nice line variation.
I also own different inks: diamine sherwoord green, pelikan edelstein ruby, montblanc black blue and 3 pelikan 4001 inks (blueblack/black/brown).
Is the pelikan 4001 black a good ink to start sketching?
Also, can anyone suggest some nice paper.
And maybe any book or video series to get the basics?
Thank you!
Ruben

Re: I want to start sketching
I just use standard sketchpads - typically recycled paper about 98 lb/160 gsm. Canson multi-media paper is what I have at the moment.
There are many books and web sites that can teach you the basics.
As far as inks, I use whatever is in the pen - Cross black (rebranded Pelikan) is fine. For anything I want to be permanent, I tend to use a dip pen and acrylic or India ink.
