The end of another letter filled month. Here is what I have been up to. To all those feeling the weight of your reply piles, I am now down to 62. I can almost see a five on the horizon (59 or 65, who can tell).
This is a new one. I was watching my letter count go down and new I was still writing a lot.
The only thing to keep in mind is that I don't count the words of letters I have received, till I have a reply written.
For those worried I am spending too much time on stats and not enough on writing. I am a programmer and do a lot of this through custom code.

Custom code, ffs. I sent two things out, unbidden. I just like sending correspondence to unwitting friends.

Just something simple to walk through a directory structure, opening and counting all the words in any text file it finds. Outputting another text file with the folder name (correspondents name), filename (date sent/received), and word counts. Then I drop it into an excel document with some formulas and filters.
I have been resisting the urge to just build a little database already, but haven't yet.
