My EDC is a Delica. I'm out of my home state and feel naked taking the bus everyday so I asked my brother to borrow one and without hesitation he hands me a blue Paramilitary 2 (discontinued) in M390. I'm good.
When I was growing up a boy or girl who did not have a knife on them would be as strange as a den without a gun rack or a house without a rifle or shotgun by the rear door. From first grade on knives were truly ubiquitous.
A major playground event was mumbly-peg and whittling was what you did when just talking. Pocket knives were appropriate in first through about Little League years but by late pre-teens a sheath knife would be equally common. In class it was essential so you could sharpen you pencil before class or if you broke the led.
I can't remember a time in the last three quarters of a century when I did not have at least one knife on me with the exception of the recent utter insane nonsense of banning knives from airliners where I have to pack my knives (and firearms) in the luggage.
AbE: some examples.

Have you always lived in Texas, Jar?

I was considering a Benchmade 581 for EDC.
Been though so many S&W that cost 30$ I might as have sprung for something high end.
I carry a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian knife as my daily EDC. Also carry my multi-tool made by Leatherman. I might get a Grayman Satu if I manage to save up about $300.00
I'm not a fan of folders and just don't carry them. This is my EDC knife (belt or pocket, usually pocket), a Canadian belt knife by John Kiedaisch of JK Knives. For reference, the blade is 4 in., handle is 4 1/2 in.
And an "in hand" picture. This pic was taken about 5 years ago before the maroon/burgundy micarta darkened and patina formed on the blade.

I carry a knife in my pocket - not as expensive as these beautiful Spyderco knives, but serviceable all the same. It's mostly for opening packages (people keep sending me pens) but occasionally a sharp blade can be useful in pen repair too. I wouldn't carry it outside as I would be hard pressed to explain why I needed it should the situation arise. It's changed days here in Britain. At one time most people would have carried a pocket knife but not now. Too much stabbing going on which makes the police very suspicious of anyone with a knife.
whoa...excellent colletions ! thank you all for sharing !
A few of my favorite EDC blades...
Fell in love with my new Spyderco Bug.. Such a smalllll knife but Big on quality!
