Just showing my ignorance - what makes it super cool? It's just a pen that I have had for a few (40) years.

That looks interesting. A bit hand made and esoteric, which I like.

    The search begins...

Lamy Dialog 3 in piano white. Lovely smooth action to the retraction.
Stipula Da Vinci in carbon fibre. Three turns to retract, sort of negates the convenience of a retractable pen.
Pilot VP from the 1970s. We all know and love these.
Montblanc 1912 I don't see why this needs to be retractable if it has a cap, but who am I to question the great MB?

Just looking for an affordable Visconti Pininfarina. Are there any more that I have missed?
How about vintage "safety" pens, there are at least two designs: 1) Waterman's "helical" design and 2) Moore's "sleeve" design.

Your capless is a relatively short lived model from 1973. It has already the new shape but is still made of aluminium.
do you know the site of Carmen Rivera? It's fantastic and there is the whole history of all capless models documented:

    Hello Christof,

Thank you for happily passing half an hour of my time, looking at the Carmen Rivera website.

So much to learn, so many pens to look at.

The postman has just been, so here's my augmented collection of retractable pens

    DSCN4163.JPG

    DSCN4162.JPG

    Stypen Up
    Stipula Da Vinci
    Lamy Dialog 3
Piedimonte GB 1 Ebonite & copper
    Pilot VP
    Montblanc 1912

Please does anybody know of a convertor to fit the Stypen Up? I have tried a short convertor from a Kaweco Sport, which fits for length but doesn't seal - it rattles around inside the pen.

    Thank you Catbert.

I was going to look at the F-C pens at the San Francisco Pen Show later this month. I have a feeling that is going to be a slightly expensive day.

The design of the Model 25 intrigues me but I think it's one I'd have to try before buying.

    Another short-cap model:

Sadly it's just a case of your mini collection intersecting my interest in technical pens or pens that resemble them.

Another example, new to me: Pelikan th.INK

It's a quiet afternoon in Chester, so here's an easy quiz for you.

    What connects this mini collection?

Well, it's either too hard for you all, but I don't believe that, or too easy.

They all bear a number representing a height.

    Mont Blanc 4810 Metres
    Platinum Mount Fuji 3776 Metres
Colorado Pen Co 5280 Height of Denver in feet
