Default Penmanila's Latest Post on Pen Collecting

Interesting read from Prof. Jose "Penmanila" Y. Dalisay, Jr. on fountain pen collecting - "... I may miss the chase but not yet the company."

Thank you. I've always enjoyed Jose's writings, and this carried a particular poignancy. Much appreciated.

Hello. Thanks for the link to the article, great read.

Being a non-native English speaker, I have a question: what does the expressions missing the chase but not the company mean? I understand what missing the chase means, however the meaning of 'the company' escapes me. Does he mean other competing pen collectors?

    Thanks in advance,
    Matias

Lovely post. It shows that he's such an awarded and prolific author.

In context, he means the company of the pens that he currently owns and will either pass on or sell.

    Makes perfect sense.

I always thought the expression 'not missing' something meant you did not like it or hated it when it was there but it's not there anymore.

    Thanks

That is very much a reflection of my current position although I'm a little older than Jose. It's time for the pens to leave the nest.
