What was your first fountain pen.

My first was a Parker 51 Pen and Pencil set that my dad had when he was in school. I still have them and it still writes wonderfully!

I had three "first" pens. Let me explain. My truly first fountain pen was a Sheaffer student pen. I lost it by the time I was 14. Later in life I bought a Sensa Meridian. I used it once and it went into a drawer for a long time. My cousin now owns the pen. I can say with certainty that it was not until I bought a Lamy Safari did the bug bite me hard. So the Lamy is my third "first" pen. Not until the Safari did I learn how to properly hold a pen without pain after a writing session.

My first fountain pen was a Lamy Logo that I bought on a whim my freshman year of college. F nib, brushed stainless steel finish. I used it on and off throughout my university years, but didn't really get into collecting until after I graduated. I passed that pen on to a younger sibling.

My first real Fp was my late fathers Montblanc 146 from the early fifties, and is the reason why i got interested in fountain pens, and also the reason i started collecting old MBs.

I can vaguely remember writing with a fountain pen (a Penol school pen) in the early years of school.

A vintage 146 as your first pen? One helluva lucky way to start! Although as it was you father's, you probably saw it through different eyes than the normal desirous pen addict.

I did´nt know anything about FPs then (although i had heard the name montblanc before) but i googled montblanc 146 and quickly found FPN (and later FPG), where i found lots of info about it.

Eventually i got it to write again, and that started my interest in FPs and specially vintage MBs.
