Sorry about double post, but I realized the M800 didn't fit the criteria.

    For pens priced $100.00 - $250.00:

    1) Pilot Custom 823 (most US retailers sell it for $288.00, but it can pretty easily be found for less than $250.00 online)

    2) Lamy 2000

    3) Pilot Vanishing Point

** Note: I find the Platinum 3776 Century to be an EXCELLENT pen, one of my favorites, and it can easily be found on Amazon, Ebay, and other online resources for less than $100.00. Another pen that I find to be truly outstanding, and available for ~$40.00, is the Faber Castel Loom -- it is one of my very favorite pens in ANY price range.

I'd choose a Sailor Pro Gear Realo (you can find them for around 200 - 250 on Ebay new from Japan), A Pilot Custom 823 (Also same range on Ebay from Japan), then the last would depend on availability and what I found as a toss up between a Mabie Todd with a 6 nib, Pelikan 100n or 400nn.

Platinum 3776 Century - can get out of Japan from Amazon for around $80 - but US Dealers are double that ($176 @ Goulet) but is a pen that performs well above that $80 price point.
Pelikan M200/M205 (paid $100 for my Cognac)

+1 They're not my favorite, but nothing beats their reliability and versatility. They are the Swiss Army knife of modern fountain pens.

I would probably choose pilot custom heritage 92, Montblanc 221, Pelikan M200 blue marblle with a m400 nib. The reason being, they are all very good daily writer and they can all be taken apart and cleaned very easily.
