    Default M800 Brown Tortoise

    Hello,

I saw the M800 with brown tortoise finish was last available in 2013, if I'm correct. Does anybody know when was the model available prior to this? I want one, but they are nowhere to be found. Is it reasonable to say they might be coming in a year or a few?

    Thanks for any input!
    Best regards.

If you like the Tortoise pens (you could easily get a M800 in a different color so I assume you are primarily interested in the brown Tortoise style)
you could also get a vintage Tortoise, which by the way outperform any modern pen by far.

All you ever wanted to know about Pelikan tortoise finishes can be found here: https://thepelikansperch.com/2014/09...ise-1980-2014/

Looks like 25 years between M800 tortoise releases.

@Pterodactylus thanks! That looks beautiful. Yes, I'm really interested in the brown tortoise finish. I'm afraid M400 would be too small for my hand, however. M800 would probably be a better fit, because M400 is 15 mm shorter than a Lamy 2000, which sits nicely in my hand. Not sure, what do you think? I haven't had the possibility to try them out. I'd have to drive over the border to Graz for a nearest store to try them out, which I just might do. Nice penmanship, neighbor!

@mulrich thanks for that link. Yeah, looks like a lot of time, so it's not exactly something to wait for, if we consider the trend from the past.

EDIT: Actually, after checking comparison pictures, the M400 looks very similar to L2K in terms of size. Anyone has both to give some input on it, maybe?

I have a modern 800 and the modern 400. Both fabulous pens but I don't really want to get a 600, should Pelikan ever release one.

How about a tortoise in the much-underrpresented M300 size? (Does anyone actually use one?)

well, are you sure you want to pay a price premium of 300% just because it is a Brown Tortoise, rather then pay 300-350 $ for a normal M800 with same features? i wanted this pen as well, but after i realised the difference in prices i would rather get a MB 149, MB 146, M800 Toledo or even a Montegrappa Extra with solid silver parts in tortoise brown colour. (sometimes it can be found for less than retail price)

No, of course not. I have since bought an M400 brown tortoise. I was only asking for M800 because I was thinking M400 would be too small for my hands. Well, it fits perfectly. I have since forgotten about the M800 brown tortoise.

I'm also "hunting" M800 brown, and i realized a lot of seller really "greedy" they sell 300%++ and act like that price is normal without guilty feeling lol..

But I'm pretty sure I will get it one day with reasonable price. Someone will sell it soon or later.

Not sure what price you think is "greedy" when they were pretty much sold out as far as new stock over a year ago and they were going for around $700 new when in stock.

Expect to pay at least $900 to get one in decent shape. You may find a beat up one on ebay for $500-$700. Good luck.

It will depend on the condition, but in near-mint I have seen it for for $1500 upwards. So glad I got mine for a decent price back then

I got one last month for about $600. Used, but still brand new. Didn't look like it was ever used.

    Thank you.
There is a brand new one here (In India) for about $425 with M nib. But I'm cheap, so I'll take the sub-$300 one.
