Snow here, today. It is time to hole up and transcribe a summer's writing into the journal books. By spring I will have a legible hand again.

Bought a Jeep Wrangler last February. This is the first real snow we have had since then. Maybe I will go out today and try the 4WD; see if it works.

All 4WD will do for most people in the snow, is get them further into the woods when they lose control and run off the road.

How true! I have been driving 4WD vehicles for 30 years and, early on, learned its limitations. Hmm. Might be a good subject for some journal entries.

Wile E. Coyote, we do have to meet up one day. I didn't know you were still here in Lafayette. Believe it or not, we had snow one day last January. It lasted about 20 minutes. Or was that the January before last? I can't remember.

Gotta love a place where 20 minutes of snow constitutes a snow day.

It was momentous enough of an event that I called my mother in St. Louis to tell her about it. But lately, what we don't get in snow we get in rain. And you have seen the problems that caused!

After driving RWD, FWD and 4x4 in New England and the mid-Atlantic states of the USA for 48 years, I've concluded tires are the most important variable for driving on snow and ice. I've settled on FWD and M+S tires as the most efficient for my needs. If for some reason snow is so deep I need 4x4, I'll either rent one or wait (like I did the weekend of the 2016 Philadelphia Pen Show), probably less than a day or two a year.

As for weather and writing, I haven't had difficulty with ink freezing on the page.
