Default 75 Random Nibs - Pic included - Some guidance requested

    Hello,
I was given the gift of [B]75[B] various nibs by a student. Here's a picture:

    2 B-0
    2 B-3
    2 B-4
    3 B-5
    3 B-6

    Penesco Esterbrook
    13 501

    Middle column top to bottom:
    Penesco Esterbrook
    6 509

    Eagle Pencil Co. Lyceum Pen
    8 E110

    F Soennecken Bonn
    2 50

    R Esterbrook & Co. Art & Drafting
    2 358

    Penesco Esterbrook
    7 520

    Right column top to bottom:
    Miller Bros. Carbon Pen
    3 No.4

    Hunt Extra Fine Round Pointed
    2 22

    Hunt Extra Fine
    1 22

CH Hunt Pen Co. Recorder Round Pointed
    5 38

    Hunt School Round Pointed
    4 56

    Hunt Drawing Round Pointed
    7 66

R Esterbrook & Co. Oval Point
    3 788

What do I do with these? I just got my first real fountain pen, a Lamy Safari, but I don't think any of these will work with it. Should I keep them? Sell them? Throw them away? Any advice? I have no ideas what to do with these. Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi everybodylovesbacon,

I think what you have there is a very nice assortment of dip nibs. And they look new. You could take a calligraphy class with these, or just get a dip pen holder and try them yourself. There are a couple of calligraphy supply places online, Paper and Ink Arts, and John Neal Bookseller, where you can find info on dip nibs. You never know, you might really like using them!

    and try em out.
dip pen nibs are plentiful and cheap; their value is in use.

Thanks, people. I will definitely get a dip pen holder. I've always wanted to take a calligraphy class; maybe this will push me along to that.

And with a dip pen you can use paint, inks not meant for fountain pens, all sorts of stuff. Try white gouache on black paper!
