It's not exactly hopping yet but there are monthly events like 5 Letters, 5 Questions you can access once you log in. I have a full plate of correspondents from there. Have you posted an introduction?

I was semi-offline for the holidays although I did check my forum daily. Finally received and been through the nice holiday mail - had it kept safe by Royal Mail - worked a treat. Colourful bunch of letters, some written with Enchanted Onion, Moon Dust, other sparkles, also inks from other companies. I neglected to log in here so didn't notice this thread but I read about it in one of my letters!
Because some threads have addresses on, I thought it best not to have these visible to non-members, or to silent members.

Yes, I really enjoy handwritten letters and have a few penpals from other countries. (I also sometimes send letters to my friends, but they tend to reply by email!)
In addition to the resources mentioned in this thread, sendsomething.net is a great website for finding people to write to – both one-off exchanges and more long-term penpals.

Thank you, Morgaine, for all the contributions you make to keep letter-writing alive in the fountain pen community.

I'd try the World of Snail Mail forum. Compared to this forum it may not seem particularly active, but hey: they're all busy writing
Anyway, it works well to find pen pals. Every introductory post is greeted by tens of others, so they are there...and they are a friendly bunch too.
I found some great pen pals there.

I use my fountain pens to write to pen pals abroad and domestic. Over the past year my correspondents have stimulated me enough to collect a few, and venture into experimenting with inks and "fine writing" papers. I've enough to keep me busy, but hope this year I can attract and retain some international penfriends. I sometimes make custom envelopes.

I write letters year-round: http://postable.com/christinao
I will join up on that forum straight away. I find snail mailing helps me improve on my languages too as I have French, Italian and German penpals too.

I believe that receiving a hand written letter is a wonderful thing. I work away most of the year and write once a week to my wife. Every week I try to use a different colour in and vary my nibs. I love choosing that weeks paper, matching the envelope and laying down a vibrant ink. For this trip I am working through Diamine's Flower collection and multiple colours of writing paper by Clairfontaine.
And no spell check either!

I have about 5 pen-pals and would like 2 more

I've started sending weekly letters to my son who's away living with his mother.
I haven't introduced myself on the forum yet but I will! I am always interested in writing to people. PM me if interested. I have had a fairly interesting life. I am Matt 39 and from Kent UK. I am a former lawyer, wandering English teacher, charity worker and happy depressive (nice guy but been burdened with menancholia my whole life). I am into travel, literature, writing, cycling and music amongst other things I love fountain pens and whilst an avid user of technology I do prefer the simpler and more lasting ways and like to keep the old tradition of letter writing alive!

In another thread, a supporter of this thread laments that this thread has gone dormant. I'm loathe to add to that other awful thread, but I'm happy to bump this one to the top keeping in mind that this thread, itself, is not the goal, but rather correspondence by paper, ink and postage stamps.
So have at it.
I still have some snail mail friends, and I occasionally pick up one or two more during InCoWriMo in February.
