    Default Unknown Wahl-Eversharp

I was given my grandfather's fountain pen set for Christmas and I'm look for information on the pen as well as how I might get it back into working order.

The ink bladder dry rotted and fell apart in my hands but the lever still functions. I have not done any real cleaning (out of fear of causing damage since I am new to this). The pencil is in full working order.

If you can offer any help, I would greatly appreciate it. I would love to have this set working again as a connection to the grandfather I never knew. My father is interested in an approximate date of production so he might identify how/why my grandfather received the set.

Thank you for any guidance you can offer!

It's a Doric senior or Oversized pen in black and Pearl produced 1931.5 to 1934.5. It's a lever action sac pen so a dismantling, thorough cleaning and new sac is usually all that's required. Let me know if I can help further with any restoration neeed

That's a beautiful set. I would recommend taking Syd up on his offer to help.

Thank you. This is wonderful news. Syd, how do you recommend cleaning? Soap and water? Part of the sac is still inside but I'm hoping it will come come out once soaked. Where should I look to purchase another sack?

Thank you again for your help!

Lisa, you don't want to soak the entire pen, as that is usually not a good thing. There are many ways to go in terms of restoration, but... I'm just going to say this: if you haven't done this before, a valued heirloom is probably not the place to start. Syd has already answered a bit, and while you may not know it, he is one of the finest and most knowledgeable people regarding this brand. I would contact him if I were you for suggestions on restoration, whether it would be him doing it or his suggestions. This pen deserves work done by a professional, and then you can cherish it for years to come.
