    Default Ebay Postcard Scoop

These were **EPIC** and I hit BUY before my frontal cortex could react and restrain me:

All that's left of this auction is a teeny picture but, being Speerbob, he may have more...

    Nope.

All I got on that link was "You can't view these order details. To view this information, you must be logged into the guest or eBay account used to purchase this item.See instructions to view guest order details."

Nothing else under postcards on his eBay store.....so what is epic?!

    MINE! Thank you, kevmid
Online arguments are a lot like the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
As soon as the audience begins to participate, any actual content is lost in the resulting chaos and cacophony.
At that point, all you can do is laugh and enjoy the descent into debasement.

Glossy card stock repels liquid ink.

Well, live and learn. I got the postcards today. As mentioned previously, I don't mind that they're on glossy card stock. What does bother me, however, is that the image quality on about half of them is exceedingly poor. They look like color copies made from images that were originally much smaller. I've asked to return them and be refunded.

I mention this only in case anyone else thinks to buy from this seller. The pictures in the listing don't reveal how poor the image quality really is.

Ugh, disappointing! To clarify, it doesn't look like Speerbob was the seller on these.

No, he wasn't. I did get a refund and mailed them back, though

Oh no. That's a real shame.

It could've been a lot worse. I messaged the seller & had a refund within 12 hours. The bothersome thing to me is that someone is passing themselves off as an artist when in fact all they're doing is lifting jpg's of vintage images off the internet and printing them out vintage reproductions. Heck, I did better quality work with Windows 3 and the color copier at the Sir Speedy print shop.

Well good for you that you got a refund. ....I have been known to make the odd postcard myself too.

There are many postcard publishers, but here are two favorites for vintage reproduction, poster and photo cards.

For new postcards, Pomegranate in the USA is a great source, especially their $14.95 sale pack of 100. Don't order more than one pack at a time unless you want duplicates, since each variety pack is identical, at least for a while. BTDT

Mayfair Postcards in the UK have a fantastic selection, but there's a sad drawback; they're often glossy on both sides making them rather fountain pen unfriendly. However, I was perusing their website just now and discovered they also sell vintage and discontinued cards of tube maps! Those should be fine, and I'll have to order some depending on price. They invite enquiries. They seem to be collectors, too.
