Not sure of the models but I have found all of these in antique stores recently. Lowest price one was $1. Most expensive was $5. One needs a sac but the others hold ink and don't leak but can probably stand to be resacced as well. Nibs are 9556, 2556, 9668, and 1461. I like the broader nibs myself. The ones that hold ink write nicely.

A great find. Repair them and enjoy them.

Beautiful pens! I just got a 9668 nib from Anderson Pens, but it's not quite as smooth as the 1551 I bought from them a couple of months ago. That nib is one of the finest writers I own.

The 1551 is an untipped nib and over time the folded point wears down, making it slightly wider and much smoother. When these are really smooth they are worn out. The 9668 (a really nice nib I think) is tipped and will last much longer without wearing to that glassy feel the 1xxx will eventually exhibit.

I might be wrong but I think the gray and copper ones are SJ models. BTW I love that copper.

As I used to be an Avaya PBX administrator, I have a soft spot for my Bell Systems Esterbrook.

SJ's would be about 4.75" long, J 5" LJ is same as the J only slender- same as SJ diameter. Those are some nice finds.

Great finds! Really nice color on the silver/gray one, too. If you like broader nibs, you'll probably like the 9668 nib best on those pens, and you should look for a 9968.

    Yesterday a new Esterbrook J arrived - Copper - 2556 nib.

Here is with the family. Red SJ on the left, then a blue transitional (round jewel, not toaster), J's in green, copper, gray & black, black LJ Bell Systems skunk on the right

This thread reminds me of the pen I used in grade school. I would love to find one of those school pens but they probably were incinerated a long time ago. The body was red with the following stamping:
    Community Consolidated
    School District 65
    Evanston, Illinois
The cap was a white nurses cap to keep people from ripping it off.
