Default What does your desk/work area look like? Do you keep your fountain pens on it?

I write this because today someone came into my office and just sat down and started handling all of my desktop items. They were completely fascinated by all of my clutter so I took a photo of it. I think they now believe I am a bit eccentric lol. It's a mixed bag with others. Some can't stand to hear my small collection of wind up travel alarm clocks tick tocking non-stop ( I love it!) and others like to write with my desktop fountain pens and feather quill. So I thought I would post a photo of my desktop just like it is. I have fountain pens in the photo so I thought this topic might fit here. I would be curious to see others work/desk areas. Anyone want to share?

I love the floor-to-ceiling window! My desk at college is too messy and uninteresting to deserve a photo.

Thank you! The weather here in North Texas looks like what is outside your window in your photo. No snow here:-). Thank you for the photo. What a very nice, neat and orderly desk!

This is my desk which is never, ever, ever this tidy-- but it was once and I took a picture.

If I had jbb's desk, I'd fill every nook and cranny in minutes, and then promptly forget what's where.

Once in a while I find a pen in a drawer that I entirely don't remember. It's like getting free stuff.

No pix, but I have 2 desk pens + a cup/can of pens.
My wife has a desk pen at her desk also. She got spoiled by using my desk pens, always ready to use, just pull it out of the holder.

I have a wonderful old desk that belonged to my grandfather that has been refinished and has a piece of 1/4" smoked glass on the top to protect it. For several years it has been a "junk gatherer". I need to get rid of some of the junk on it so I can actually use it. My grandpa died in 1959 and used it in his plumbing business for years- both before and after his death, and yes the center drawer has ink stains in it.

I recently set it up, but need to start using it more regularly. It is a great desk. It is small - the top is only 44" wide by 22" deep and the knee hole is about 18" wide. Hard to find a desk chair that will fit under it. Will probably need to be a vintage chair. Modern chairs don't fit. The desk pen is a Parker 45 I got a couple of years ago. The desk came to me in the late 70's if I recall correctly. I also have grandpa's Waltham Model 1894 pocket watch. I have been able to date the movement to 1908. It runs, but isn't accurate. But that is ok.

    I wouldn't dare!

There's the laptop with its separate keyboard because its own is foutu; there's the small brass bust of Henri IV, an overflowing ashtray, an indescribably ink-stained blotter, several pairs of spectacles. a telephone, some CDs a couple of torches a Swan desk pen in a pen holder with a swan on it, a small table lamp, a picture of The Woman Who Ruined My Life and a framed French cartoon of cats. On the shelf above various beakers containing fountain pens and mechanical pencils, a printer, a scanner, another lamp and pile of assorted junk...

    Yours eccentrically,

I see you have the TWSBI Ink Bottle. I sure do like mine. I also have the TWSBI Diamond 580AL Fountain Pen. It's my heavy-duty writing instrument.

    I feel a bit pathetic!

My work area is a lap desk. I also use a folding TV dinner tray for my computer. I don't actually have a desk. Even in my classroom, I don't have a desk.

But, then I think to myself that the world is my desk. I can quite seriously work anywhere.

"Clutter"? Ha ha! You don't know the meaning of the word (see my post above).

I have a TWSBI 580 diamond, with a stub nib. I think that it is excellent; it is always in my pocket, together with one or two of my vintage pens as an uttelry dependable back-up!

I think that bottle is a good design. Always easy to fill from. It tends to be the bottle I "blend" inks in because I am too lazy to clean it out lol.
