Oooh! Which colors? Or can you say?

One is sakura (i.e. cheery blossom). The other is hiwa-moegi (siskin-young-long green onion).

    I like your typo--"cheery" blossom--perfect!

The hiwa-moegi sounds especially intriguing. Green is my favorite color... hmm...

Amazing collection. I'm just now getting into Japanese fountain pens. I'll never have a lot of them though. Which one is your favorite? Do all of them make it into your rotation?

I don't have a favorite among any of my pens. I own hundreds of pens but the only pens I use on a regular basis are six of the Nakayas, based on the nib size. Occasionally I'll supplement that with a select group of vintage pens. Otherwise most of my pens are not used. Most are in useable condition but many of my pens are sufficiently rare and old that I don't put further wear and tear on them. When I buy pens that are not Nakayas, I rarely care about the nib as long as it is the correct nib for that pen. I collect vintage Japanese and Italian pens and rare and obscure American pens. From a daily use standpoint, the Nakayas are better suited to the way I like to write (i.e. super extra fine). For calligraphy, I prefer to use dip pens as they are the better tool for that job.

I agree. And I just clicked on "thanks" for the photos but what I really meant was "now I'm going to keep dreaming about the Nakaya I've been resisting".

The siskin young long green onion sounds like a fantastic design idea for a pen.
I like the notion of a rounded/bulbous white end merging into a green colour, like a spring onion.
Of course, I realise that it may just be a colour scheme - which still sounds nice.
That is a fantastic collection, AltecGreen. Thanks for showing.

I only have one Asian pen: The Pilot MYU701. When I first saw the one piece nib and section construction, it stopped me in my tracks.
I decided that I had to get one. Took some finding, but it came eventually and did not disappoint. It's a stunning design!

    Thanks.

Well, after AltecGreen's beautiful pics, I feel unworthy (and very, very envious ), but here's my small but beloved group:

-Sailor 1911 gold trim midsize with medium nib
-Sailor Pro Gear REALO gold trim with medium nib
-Sailor 1911 full size silver trim with Naginata Togi Emperor nib
-Pilot VP in black, medium nib
-Pilot Custom 74 gold trim, fine nib
-Pilot Custom 823 smoke with beautifully stubbed broad nib
-Nakaya Naka-Ai in Heki-Tamenuri with broad nib.

This might surprise no one who knows me (from FPN), but I have a few Nakayas, a couple of Danitrios and TWSBIs, and a Wing Sung. And a Sailor. I think that's it. A couple of Sailors.

    What about the Stylo Art?

I think she forgot about that one because it doesn't have a wooden clip.

Pilot Custom Heritage 74 soft fine
Pilot 78G - mistake not getting the broad nib = plumix-like italic
Pilot Varsity - some have very good nibs, and can be refilled
Hero - gift pen - very nice - does not hold a lot of ink

Many have come and gone, Sailor, Nakaya, TWSBI, Hero, Platinum.

As of this writing my Japanese pens are:
    • Pilot MYU 701
    • Namiki Sterling Turtle
    • Pilot Heritage 92 in transparent blue

    Then there's a
Platinum #3776 nib I installed in my "Newton Slug."

There's two Danitrio short octagons which I include here for their
Japanese urushi craft. The nibs are German, but I had one of them
modified to .2mm by Mike Masuyama.

I love Japanese FINE nibs! I also had two Edison nibs ground by Mike
    to Japanese F/EF width.
