    Default Loose OMAS nib

The nib on my 1980s/1990s 557 separated from the feed and eventually worked itself completely loose. I have pretty light hand, so this seems kinda odd to me. Anyone else have this problem?

Clearly I have to reseat the nib, but how can I prevent this from happpening again?

I did not have this happen with the old-style Paragon or modern 556/F I owned. My only advice would be to reseat the nib a bit further into the nib assembly (so that the feed has a longer contact length near the tip), but be careful when applying force into the nib collar--they are very susceptible to cracking.

Not surprising, the nib collar was the problem. It's crumbling. Some of the bits that have fallen out seem to be soft & spongy. Weird
