    For old pens: chase the NIB. That's the best advice I've ever gotten from a fellow collector. Now I still do get swayed by a beautiful pen, but unless it is a brand with easily swappable nibs, I'll pass if the nib isn't something I'm looking for. Chase the nib.

    I think bobo has some awesome advice there, although I think one should think a little bit about the pen--some very cheap pens have great nibs but may not last very long themselves...
