I play the piano. When I was in school I played the flute and the French Horn. Would still like to play the French Horn but they are so expensive so I don't have one at my disposal to practice. I also started taking violin lessons and organ lessons a few years ago, but stopped due to lack of time.

I've played the piano for a while. My first teacher forced me to play classical music which was okay. My second teacher was amazing at Ragtime and I absolutely love Scott Joplin but my favorite song of his is Bethena which is more of a waltz than anything, so beautiful.

I played the trumpet in high school but then I got braces and it ruined my lipz. Still enjoy it from time to time but the ivories were my first love.

I play the harpsichord, but do a lot more listening to recordings than playing these days.

I played the violin for 7 years, then stopped altogether.

Passionate of klezmer , I have decided to learn how to play the clarinet.

Nice to see a few early music aficionados here. My instrument is viola da gamba - I have a 7 string French style bass. In fact I don't play much at the moment, but in my earlier years I was a very keen, if amateur, player. I also spent about 10 years playing Highland bagpipes in a local band (so I'm no gentleman!

    A G, B-flat, and a D walk into a bar and sit down.

Ok, just far enough I would not have heard you play pipes. But my shawm is pretty loud. I love playing with gamba as accompaniment.

My musical ability is zero. When I was 12, my parents gave me a transistor radio . . . I couldn't even play that.

I've played 'cello for 50 years or so. Right now I'm trying to learn chromatic harmonica, but it's slow going.

I play the piano. More often than not I play the stereo. That is probably what I play best.

Trombone, baratone, and tuba. Full ride with trombone in college. Paid for all but books. Have not played for many years.

The music maker in our family is my youngest son - 3 weeks away from graduating with honours in Classical Performance (Piano). And then going back for a masters (probably harpsichord). He's fantastic!

Which makes my plonking away on these kinda lame, but I have fun - only do so when he's not around! - I know my place.

My father bought me my first guitar in 1957. I now play 6 of them. I also play Irish bouzouki, mandolin, recorder, hurdy gurdy, tenor ukulele, bones, and bodhran. I played in a historical reenactment band for 28 years. We played period music, in costume, for Medieval, Renaissance, American Revolutionary War era, American Civil War era, War of 1812, and cowboy. I played for 10 years in a Celtic string band. My wife and I now busk with Appalachian and Celtic music. She plays hammer dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, Celtic harp, and concertina. I back her with classical and 12-string guitars, bouzouki, and recorder.

How wonderful that your son is going to study harpsichord. After all those years of piano, he will have a lot to unlearn, but his piano playing will benefit from it.
