Sometimes you order a pen and it comes in a plastic sleeve of some kind, to protect it. And it may be durable enough to keep reusing. I've actually had some made out of tough plastic with a velvet coating, others made fully out of cloth or velvet, etc. But I'd like to get more of something like this and haven't been able to find anything as yet. I don't want a fancy kimono or other artistically crafted pouch costing a lot. This would be for lesser writing instruments that I'd like to keep protected.
A while back, I made a few of my own. I had an Audi soft top convertible that suffered a broken rear window. And when I had the top replaced, I had the service shop save the material of the old top for me. I wish they'd been more careful, as they really ripped it up into peculiar shaped pieces... but I was able to salvage a bit of it for "projects" down the road. Well, I did just that -- created some pen sleeves out of it. And they work GREAT! Very tough and washable material, and protects pens nicely. But they are made of thick material, so there are limitations in design. Anyway, I no longer have access to a really good sewing machine, so I can't make more.
So if you know of a good reasonably priced kind of pen sleeve or protector, please post about it (and the source if you can remember it). Thanks!
