How Many Pens Do You Have Inked?

Well, I managed to get mine down from 14 (far too many) to 11 (still too many), but guess what happened today. Two ink orders arrived at the same time - seven bottles/six new inks to play with. Am I patient? Can I wait?

Nah, not me! I hate wasting ink, but I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and empty some of the old ones, so I can play with the new ones!

I try to get the numbers down, yet I like to have about 5-10 inked with 'default colours' which I can just grab and write with. All of these contain inks that can deal with lying around for a week (or two, or three), so maybe I shouldn't feel too bad about having so many inked.

I have 2-5 pens out of 31 inked at any given time. I don't write as much as I'd like to so I can't risk having too many inked or risk drying out.

Oh I feel sooooooo much better now. I carry three with me, obviously all inked but there's another six on my desk that are ready to write too. Still not into double figures so that's pretty good. The one I keep by my bed with the notebook does not count and neither does the one in the car.

I was down to 5 pens until this morning when I inked up two more.

Since I use mostly iron gall ink, I usually only have one pen inked, with daily, or every second day rinsing.

But I do sometimes have a second pen inked with Pel 4001 Royal Blue, and that may stay inked for a couple weeks at a time.

I usually have two pens inked at a time. One pen is inked with black or blue-black (today, a Parker "51" with Noodler's black) and a second pen inked with something crazy (today, a Lamy Safari with Pelikan Edelstein turmaline). One for business, one for pleasure.

I think I need to get a Visconti Alchemy. One of the nibs would write with the business ink and the other would write with the pleasurable ink. Thus, the Visconti Alchemy has the potential to be the mullet of the fountain pen world. However, this would be the most expensive mullet ever -- anyone got a spare 5K?

We have the little thanks option for posts, but where is the LOL option?

As of 4/30, two: TWSBI 540 & Montblanc 146. I like to keep it to two so that I get to rotate my collection. Plus, I just love filling a pen. The feeling I get when I dip a pen in a bottle of ink - so relaxing.
