Traffic-stopping Roll-stops

I found this little button/jacket pin whose ornament is a small model of a Cuckoo Clock (complete with two chain and weighs that kept sliding off the barrel to the side unless I glue it in place, which I don't want to do).
Bought it along with a lunch bag -full of trinkets from an Estate Sale closeout -deal.
That was a few weeks, maybe a month ago.

Fast forward to last Monday, I finally had a chance to sit down and implement an idea:



The pen is a big woodgrain ebonite Morrison's. And the band on the cap is engraved with 18K 10/12.
Lovely pen with a huge Morrison's nib inside.
Now I call it: The Cuckoo Clock Morrison's.

I think the roll-stop keeps up with the time (ahem!) and while it won't probably stop traffic, it'll at least entertain those whose easily amused (like myself)

How did you attach the clock to the pen?

SK, there was the long "needle" behind the clock, so I clipped it to a stub.
Then anchor the stub with a little epoxy glue just enough so it is seated securely in one of the two holes left behind by the missing pocket clip.

I'm testing it to see if it's secure enough, so far a few days jostling around in a pen case in my business bag hasn't made the roll-stop loose.

But in case I ever find the right Morrison's pocket clip, I'd still be able to take the pin out. Then *if* I can borrow an inner-cap-puller (those are expensive) to remove the inner cap and somehow secure the clip. I am *not* holding my breath for this.

I added an earring part to my Edison Morgan Sheaffer Tuckaway Triumph a while ago, not so much to stop the rolling (although it certainly helps in that regard) but to discern cap from barrel.

Ah, I love both of those. I've used wrap rings as roll-stops before now, but for the Namisu Nova it seemed like something simple and minimalist was more in order. And necessary - the darn thing might have been designed expressly for rolling off the desk and into disaster. Thus this:

I'm no carver, but unfortunately no photographer either, and I think it looks slightly better than its photo. Or to put it another way, that's as good as it's gonna get because bone is smelly ghastly stuff to work and I ain't doing any more to it!

What kind of bone and how did you attach it to the pen?

If you'll take a suggestion on the photo, get it out of the sun into the shade so that no direct sunlight in the photo anywhere. You'll get a more pleasing result that way, just crank up the ISO a bit.

I assume it's cow bone - it was from a pet shop, ready cleaned and wotnot (thank goodness). As for attachment, its still via Blu-Tack at the moment while I vacillate over my best choice of adhesive to do the job permanently. i.e. When I can screw my courage to the sticking point. Literally!

And you're quite right about the photo, of course - it's such a rare thing to see the sun around here recently it went to my head.

Another one of my creation: The Door Knocker Pen



Found this little pin made by Avon, which interestingly was started in 1886 in New York (had to google that).

The pin looked so "at home" with the old Conklin, and the back of it fits the hole left by the original clip, so I just made it a custom rollstop.

Great job. As someone who only ever uses a pen clip as a roll stop, I really like these ideas.
