Default I found a weird Sheaffer Flat top

Just got an old Jadeite Sheaffer Flat Top and noticed something odd about it when cleaning the pen.

Notice anything funny? Go on, I'll wait.

There is no serial number. As opposed to other flattop seen here:

What?! anyone have information on this? The one without the stamping also appears to be an oversized model and is a bit girthier. The no-serial-pen seen above the serial-pen here:

    Any thoughts?

Not certain, but I think you might at least find interesting info on a thread posted here that leads to a good article.

Really only one possibility; it simply pre-dates the use of serial numbers.

Oh right. Of course. Hahaha. Duh. And for a second I was thinking it was a bootlegged shadow-market pen, its serial number buffed away to hide the crime...

    ...but alas.
