Part of me wishes the Prera was the first Pilot steel-nib pen I tried, but then, I then I would have been disappointed by the others had I gotten them after the Prera, so I guess it worked out well that the Prera is the last steel-nib Pilot I'll likely ever own. I have three of them (M, F, CM - the M was swapped with my EF nib for reviews). This is the perfect pen for me - and no posting needed.

~Don't know if this is standard nomenclature or not but all my (4) Preras that have the great CM nibs are transparent demonstrators (with colored tips) that Pilot calls the Prera Iro-Ai. My other two with the also good F nibs have very satisfying solid colors (brown, ivory) and are simply labeled Prera's. All of them tho have that great feel in the hand and that pleasing, solidly closing ~click~ that always brings a smile to my face. ";>})

Pilot Preras sound like decent pens. I will go and look at some pics.

When I was looking at the photos, I couldn't figure out why it was so much more expensive that Pilot's other steel-nib pens (Metro, Kakuno, Penmanship). Having gotten one and used it, I understand. But I think that's a subjective, per-person perception. I like shorter pens, and I really like the grip of the Prera (though I wouldn't have thought so - the Nemosine Singularity grip is the style I assume I'll like). Fortunately, the "grey market" ones on Amazon are considerably cheaper - which is why I have 3 instead of 1.

Funny, I was just toying with one of my Preras, and I absentmindedly thought, "I'd rather put a cap on a Prera than take a cap off most any other pen." Few gadgets in this world are so satisfying!

If I were to work for any pen company, it would be Pilot. No other stationery company comes close to their range of quality products. That said, I'm now going to write with my Jinhao 9019.

Well, nobody (but advertisers) ever said one has to have exclusive brand loyalty in order to really like and enjoy something. I think Prera's are the best FPs available in the medium-low price range, but I also like my small Monteverde MVP's and I just ordered two Jinhao 82's because of their VG reviews. I also liked two of their color combos (pink/ivory and blue/ivory), plus the fact that they're only $10 each (and Sailor clones) didn't hurt any either, y'know? ':>})
Curiosity-generated experimentation is always the best fun for me. plus how else would I find out what I like or dislike?

It sounds like everything worked out perfectly in the end!
