Yeah, but unless you're careful, unlike pens and watches, dogs can add to the collection on their own.

Split shot. I sold my split shot collection, years ago, to a transvestite lumberjack from British Columbia. The tins from Canadian Tire were the hardest to let go of.

I was very much into rubber stamping for a couple of years. I collected lots of stamps and art supplies. I stopped when all the fun, new things gave me asthma problems.

Tarot decks. Some of them have beautiful art. I still use them, and enjoy looking through them. But since I've discovered fountain pens, I've stopped buying them.

Watches, I still have some, Rolex, Omega, Seiko, etc. Pens have been a lot easier on my wallet.

Stamps, coins, postcards, comic books, sports cards, and NASCAR die cast. I enjoy pens because they can be used and not put in a display/ protector and looked at. I'm hoping this hobby sticks.

Pens. I've stopped collecting pens--rather, I've stopped accumulating them.

As of a couple of weeks ago, after I took possession of a couple of deliveries from Amazon and Japan.

    Yep.

Actually, I might have to buy a Platinum 3776, for the UEF nib, to put it on a Nakaya Piccolo. I think that doesn't qualify, cos the 3776 would be a donor pen. If I go that route.

    Alternative: Nibmeister.

I tried Ricky's Nakai with the UEF nib at Peyton Street Pens (Teri's generous annual open house for Pen Posse and other pen people), and I was all, YUP-sigh-want. I don't want another Piccolo. I want the UEF nib.

Yeah, nibmeister makes more sense than buying a 3776 (I've seen them, and they're nice enough pens, but I don't want them).

I know. I know. Pen people say it all the time: "That's it. I'm done. No more pens for me." And we all laugh. Even the person who says it laughs sometimes. I gots me my five Pilots now (2 PO, 1 FA, and 2 SEF) and a pack of seven Platinum Preppies for all the ink colors I like to use only occasionally. (The Preppy's seal cap mechanism is perfect for inks that I might not use for months.) (Three of the Pilots and the pack of Preppies were recent purchases.)

    And that's it!

    I'm done!

    (Laughing.)

No, really. (Laughing along.) I'm good!

Drum Kits. 8 years ago I sold 9 kits out of my basement inventory. Now I have 2 sets, haven't bought one since '11 or '12. Here it is:

Fountain pens and inks. I am very happy with the seven pens and several bottles of ink I have now. To get any more would just be a waste of money, and would not make me any happier. I have not bought pens or inks for two or three years now, maybe longer. There is much to be said for the concept of enough, but not too much. When I bought my last pen at the SF Pen Show, I was thinking "this pen is nice, but I don't really want or need another pen. Nah, this one is nice so I'll buy it." Mostly I had gone to just look around, and also get a couple of vintage pens repaired.

Using fountain pens is no longer a big deal. I do like and prefer to use them, though, which makes them a normal, enjoyable part of everyday life. That is what I was looking for when I first started learning about fountain pens, so it is mission accomplished.

Pocket knives. Eight is enough. Really! After all, I only use them to cut open boxes that come in the mail. Why did I buy a razel?

Actually, I confess to being a little fascinated by knives but I wont buy any more. Honestly.

They'll be very useful for opening the boxes of your future fountain pens. But I agree, you should be fine with eight of them for that purpose.

    I know!

I'm already tempted by a Stylo Art urushi with the Pilot PO nib, IF IT CAN BE DONE. Or, if it has been done. The small model with cap flush with barrel.

    Maybe with maki-e.

    (Laughing self-consciously.)

NO! I will pay a nib-meister to grind at least one Nakaya Piccolo nib to a PO, if it can be done! (PO or UEF.) This is the best route.

No more pens! No more pens!

    (Laughing.)

I just need the PO grind on a Nakaya. I like my Nakaya nibs, but... oh sigh.
