1) Sold my first funeral contract today
2) Sold my fourth gravestone yesterday
3) Installed a "Cow-fe" bistro in a lovely, unused space in the funeral home. Busily moving bistro sets and choosing amusing cow pictures.

Blackberries fresh from the backyard arbor.
A robin broods her second clutch of eggs on a ledge by our front door. Her name is Maudie. She stays put while we go in and out.

I'm so pessimistic I need this thread about once (or twice) every hour of the day...terrible, I know.
EDIT: See, I even forgot to say 3 good things....
1) My alternator is coming today for my Acadia.
2) I'm at work (counting my blessings here...).
3) It's not raining like it has been the past week.

One bad thing: The Hospital and Health Centre where I've worked for the last 28 years burned down on Tuesday night - news here and here
The Good Things:
1) The Hospice on the ground floor had moved to its new site 3 months ago, so no one was hurt or killed
2) Our staff have been astonishing and have just been working their socks off to reorganise; I'm really proud of them- they didn't need to be asked and barely needed to be told what to do.
3) The CCG ( our local NHS body) have pulled all the stops out- we have emergency premises , IT, desks to sit at and a temporary phone set up within 48 hours, and seeing patients today. It's all a bit jury rigged but it'll do for a few weeks till the next stage.

Some days, it's hardly worth chewing through the leather straps....

Eeeek! I saw that on the BBC but completely failed to make the connection with your place of work! It's a horrible thing to have happened but at least no-one was injured - or worse.
It's amazing how people respond to such an event. I'm not at all surprised your work colleagues have risen to the challenge and got things up and running. We had a serious fire at work some years ago and the services were operating, albeit at a reduced level, almost the next day. The teams also saw an opportunity to review all the old systems and ways of working. As they set up in the new premises they ditch the obsolescent and inefficient systems and became much better organised.
Good luck with it all, Emile.
1) A whole afternoon of letter writing.
2) It wasn't a Diamondback on the patio after all.
3) Blue shade option on the new Kindle seems to help.

Some days, it's hardly worth chewing through the leather straps....
1) Driving my 14-year old daughter to sailing classes (where she serves as a junior instructor) and having one of those amazing "car talks"
2) Eating the first new potatoes of the year for lunch and, connected to that
3) Having lunch with my wife <3
1. Began freezing our year's supply of broccoli.
2. Busked for three hours in a restaurant.
3. Learned a new tune.

1. I woke up.
Sorry, that's all there is.
Even better, my family woke up, too.
1. Under 90 degrees this evening.
2. Meatballs and a Movie night featuring King Kong.
3. My son is now old enough to watch giant rampaging primates without bad dreams.

1. Spider legs in the bath tub this morning. Looks like the cats surprised a member of the Pholcidae last night. I wonder why they never eat the legs. Bug eaters!
2. Collard greens after a hard frost; sweet and tender. Yum.
3. Dropped a bagful of coin into the Salvation Army potjie this morning. The ringer tingled his bell.

1. I rocked a black mini-dress at the Country Club Christmas party tonight.
2. Our son's Grampa came all the way from Michigan to visit.
3. A Real Bed is being delivered to our house after 9 months of sleeping on a Wal-Mart air mattress on the floor. Yay!

1. Good chat with my daughter this morning on the way to school. Topic: Popularity contest at school, and how stupid it is.
2. Went to an Estate Sale with my wife. Found a plastic bullet container that is perfect to sort my pile of vintage FP feeds.
3. That's it so far...
1. My dissertation chair and methodologist approved my research proposal.
2. My content expert thinks she'll be able to grit through 80+ pages of dense literature review and provide detailed feedback on Ch 2 of my developing dissertation soon enough that Academic Quality Review will be able to look at the entire 230+ proposal before we go on Christmas break for a fortnight.
3. Got to run errands with my princess.
3+1. Got a nifty, no-name lever-fill in the mail today (plain black, of course). This is the first pen I've bought in about a year.

Online arguments are a lot like the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
As soon as the audience begins to participate, any actual content is lost in the resulting chaos and cacophony.
At that point, all you can do is laugh and enjoy the descent into debasement.
