    1. I met with two colleagues to discuss some future plans. It was a pleasure to be with people of whom I am proud to have been associated with for over 40 years.
    2. I had lunch with my mom, who continues to thrive in her assisted living facility and it is a joy to see her not merely *accept* her surroundings but to actually be *happy*.
    3. I helped a friend, for the third day, do some painting in the rental house she has chosen as she relocates to our area. One of the nicest and most interesting people I've met in years and I'm happy to have some extra time to help.

A really good music class that challenged me just enough.
Lapwings in the fields looking terribly smart with their black quiffs and lichen-green wings.
A really good big pot of coffee.

A cat on my lap, making noises like a big zipper.

A glass of single malt in my left hand.

    A pen in my right.

    1. Guest-lectured for a class who enjoyed my last visit so much they asked their professor if I could come back.
    2. Catching up on correspondence with my "new (to me) absolute favorite pen...ever!"
    3. Research proposal going to AQR tomorrow!

Our oldest son is stateside for the holidays.
The Princess made dinner (She's a phenomenal cook, but an unwilling one. She generally cooks about 4 times each year: Easter, my birthday, Thanksgiving, & Christmas)
    Martinis made with Hendrick's Gin.

    2. Having new music to practise, some lovely Corelli, Ortiz, CPE Bach.
and 3. I made chocolate peanut butter cookies.

I wasn't expecting choice no 1 till I came on this board but it's wonderful to hear good news from someone.

Some great Indian food for dinner.
    A lovely gin and tonic.
And the look of joy on my 3 year olds face when he saw a flashing light in the sky and thought it was Santa flying by.

    3-days ago:
My daughter learned (at the mall of all places) that some women earned 30 cents a month picking coffee beans. So she donated her own money to help them out.

    2-days ago:
Went to take the little-kids (7 families) to do a mini "Christmas concert/caroling" at a local elderly-home. The audience went nuts when the kids did their music sing and dance.

    1 day ago:
Had a quiet Christmas service (our celebration was done earlier this month), with a special guest a dear daughter of one of the families who works for with HOPE International in West Africa.

NOTE: I'm sorry to break the rule of this thread, but I thought the 3-good things above should be recorded together.

    Had some quality me time:

    1. Had a great massage by my favourite therapist

    2. Had a dozen oysters for lunch

    3. Bought new shoes, belt and 3 shirts at great prices to refresh my wardrobe.

Must do something more selfless for the next few days.

    1. First day back to work. It's 39 degrees (Celsius!) outside today. Very thankful for the aircon.

    2. Finally caught up with a friend returned from maternity leave and exchanged baby stories.

    3. At the end of the day got a phone call, got offered a new job! It felt right and I happily accepted.
