    1. I was able to figure out how to add consultants to our appointment software.
    2. Saw my very good friend at school today (she has moved on to better and brighter things, but she is adjuncting for us, so she stopped by to get a book).
    3. One of my former tutors was hired as the Director of the Writing Center at FSU. So proud of her.

My comments seems so trivial and trite compared to this, best wishes Countrydirt for a full and quick recovery:

    1. Excellent crispy bacon sandwich with a good coffee

    2. Prospect of a warm mince pie any minute and rumours of brandy butter to go with it or preferrably them.

    3. Listening to some christmas carols, including my favourite Born the King of Angels.

    1. Fogbound. Can't see 20 meters.

    2. Wrapping gifts on the living room floor. Have cat help. Polly gets her tail mixed in with the tape.

    3. Toy trains circle the tree.

    1) Mirliton and an exceedingly tender, rare filet for dinner (accompanied by a Hendrick's martini)
    2) Reading Shirley Jackson in the relative quiet of my Study with a contented cat on my lap
    3) Hearing my wife and daughter laugh at something on TV
Online arguments are a lot like the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
As soon as the audience begins to participate, any actual content is lost in the resulting chaos and cacophony.
At that point, all you can do is laugh and enjoy the descent into debasement.

It's her one volume Novels and Stories. I'm rereading The Haunting of Hill House for the first time since America's bicentennial. I don't care for most of her stuff, but The Lottery is pure genius and one I always enjoyed sharing with my Literature students (along with David Macauley's "BAAA").

1)At 4:50 AM, the cats started a fur-pulling contest in the dining room. There was lots of hissing and growling.

2)I parked in the grocery store's lot and thumbed the door lock button on Miss Mehetabel's key fob. Immediately, four other cars went into PANIC MODE.

3)Played a dinner concert for a group of friends.
